Solid wood helix in sections. This structure will be used near the ancient end of the helix. Individual blocks will be threaded along the ½” diameter steel backbone rod, and once the proper shape is achieved, will be fastened with respect to each other. In other locations, the wood part of the helix will be made up of flexible branches lashed together forming a helical tube similar to the shape shown in Figure 9. In these sections observers might look or climb inside to more closely view symbolic items.
